Kwame ambled to a position near the fire as his old bones of fifty annual cycles could use the extra warmth. The Keeper of History told the tale of Mikasi, the Son of Ahanu the Great One of the Owutow people.
Before Mikasi reached his teen years, he brought home a newborn male wolf. Both grew together to adulthood and became well known across Acheawa lands. Mikasi met Aponi, the second daughter of Hongvi the Strong, ruler of all Acheawa. They fell in love but their union would be a tempest of problems with the newcomers from the south. The newcomers were called Toltecatls. Their belief in sacrifice and other bloodthirsty customs, set them at odds with Mikasi and his father.
They killed Ahanu and attempted to destroy Mikasi but the young warrior battled them until the great war erupted. With a child on the way, Mikasi left Aponi to battle the Toltecatls and finish them. Their destruction was the only way to save the big lodges of Chaco Canyon, and all the big lodges and villages in Acheawa lands. The mark the Toltecatls left on Bero Big Lodge and all the people of the region, figured strong in Kwame’s tale, for they turned a place of wonder into a Canyon of Evil. Read on.
