Whispers from the Lost Legion tells the story of a Tribune, Flavius Asellus, assigned to the Legio IX Hispana, (the Ninth Legion of Spain), that found himself the new Legatus Legionis (Legate – commander) of the ninth. His orders from Britannia’s Proconsul Quintus Pompeius Falco and
Emperor Hadrian were to march north from Eboracum (York) into Caledonia (Scotland) 350 miles, establish a permanent fort, and destroy the enemy.
While preparing to carry out his orders, he met and fell in love with a blue-eyed, red-haired Caledonian woman that spied for her people and Rome. Her love for Flavius brought her to a fateful decision to follow him on his doomed campaign. What happened to the couple and the legion, no one knows – unless you read their story.
