In the year 2092, Darius A. Ledger at 102 years of age, is near death. He dictates his memoirs to a journalist with the help of his AI computer and android named Candy. He is the world’s richest man because of his time spent in the Round Mountain Federal Penitentiary in Round Mountain Nevada.
The new prison was the world’s largest building built into the world’s 9th largest open pit mine, designed to hold all prisoners in the U.S. – over 2.5 million people. The top, ground floor of the building ran six miles in circumference with a depth of 100 floors. Darius was an IT professional holding the title of VSRE or Vulnerability Security Research Engineer for FinCEN or the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network for the federal government.
His work led to the discovery of ciphers in the emails of the most powerful Senator in Congress. His discovery could bring the Senator to ruin, jail, or even worse.
The Senator managed to conduct an illegal trial that sent Ledger to Round Mountain where every prisoner convicted of murder spends his life sentence in solitary confinement with the possibility of self-termination. Every inmate cell had a red suicide button. Ledger had to survive in solitary or his inmate housing would become what the builders called Round Mountain Penitentiary, Domus Mortis – House of Death.
